Isla Mujeres

Perfect Blue Ocean

Travel to Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres is one of the best kept secrets of Quintana Roo. It’s a wonderful island located in the Caribbean Sea that is considered as one of the destinations that any person should have on their bucket list.

If you are looking to relax you will find panoramic pools, hammocks and lounge chairs.

And if you are looking for adventure and entertainment opportunities, this is the best place. The calm waters and the beautiful coral reefs of the western area of Isla Mujeres are the perfect alternative for snorkeling or diving even if you’re a beginner.

Be sure to visit El Farito reef, Isla Contoy National Park, or see the underwater sculptures near the Manchones reef. You can also enjoy swimming with whale sharks, go to the cliffs, swim with dolphins, go zip lining or biking.

Come to live a unique experience in one of Mexico’s Pueblos mágicos; visit Isla Mujeres.

It is said that this place was discovered by Mayans, Spanish conquerors, and pirates, which makes it an exciting place full of stories.

BE AMAZED BY THE ISLAND

Walk through its streets filled with local businesses. Visit the Municipal Palace, enjoy a fresh fruit drink in the main square, and watch the people pass by on their daily errands. Take a walk along the pier and feel the sea breeze on your face. Watch the fishermen return to land with their day’s catch.
Take a golf cart tour around the island; you’ll see carts available on almost every corner. Explore the island and view the colorful murals that are part of a cultural project for the conservation of the oceans called Sea Walls (Paredes de los Océanos in Spanish).

TRY THE TIKINXIC FISH, THE ISLAND’S MAIN DISH

Try one of the most typical dishes in the region, Tikinxic fish. Enjoy a fresh fish fillet in achiote and white wine sauce with a side of rice, and a pepper and red onion salad. It is a mixture of flavors that you will not forget.

The Underwater Art Museum (MUSA) seeks to demonstrate the coexistence between art and the environment. It consists of pieces of a special marine concrete which facilitates the creation of corals on their surface. They are placed on the seabed and have become artificial reefs and a refuge for marine life.

Marvel at more than 500 sculptures that MUSA has permanently submerged. Examine the sculptures fixed to the bottom of the sea in an area larger than 1400 square feet containing more than 200 tons of art. Discover the two galleries that make up the museum: Manchones and Punta Nizuc.

Additionally, if you do not want to get wet, you can decide to make the visit aboard a glass-bottomed boat. It is a boat with windows on its sides through which you can see a fragment of the second largest barrier reef in the world, in addition to turtles, parrot fish, angel fish, and many other wonders
