The lagoon extends quietly and picturesquely next to the village of Bacalar as a perfect backdrop for adventure and nature lovers. Bacalar has a rich history to tell; it was the setting of multiple clashes between Mayans and Spaniards, only to later fall victim to English, French and Dutch pirates.
